One of the topics that came up in the book The Power of Praying Together was “one of the prayers you will be asked to pray most often for other people will be for healing.” If you are familiar with Stormie Ormatian’s Power of Praying books you know she often uses scriptures to form prayers. From reading her books it has been truly refreshing to see how God’s Word and prayer truly work together.
Here are some scriptures related to healing:
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. – Jeremiah 17:14
For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” ‘ – Jeremiah 30:17
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases – Psalm 103:2-3
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. – Isiaiah 53:5
But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. – Malachi 4:2
Some of these were familiar to me and others were new. I hope you find them helpful to include in your prayers. God definitely hears our prayers and he will move on a situation according to His perfect will.

We talked a little about how to pray for others during bible study class a few weeks ago. We especially touched on how to pray for someone who needs healing. Healing comes in so many different forms. Sometimes we only think of the physical ailments, but so many people need to be spiritually healed. Their heart simply does not seem to be able to see that God is very real! His “interventions” occur in the spiritual realm and don’t necessarily involve a magical pill or immediate cure. He is definitely working out a plan!
During a devotion a couple of months ago, I came across this verse in Ephesians. I have started to use it in my prayers for truly the Enemy sets up blind spots. People need to be encouraged in their faith walk.
“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints”. – Ephesians 1:18 NIV
