Tyra Moody

Hello, my name is Tyora Moody (nickname: Ty). I am a writer, book reviewer and professional web developer.

In 2006, I officially started writing on a regular basis again after a long dry period. I'm working on a final draft for my first novel. This will be the first novel in a three book mystery series.

I'm a member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers), Carolina Christian Writers and the Writer's Hut.

My book reviews are posted at
cookieaisle.com or my other Web site faithwebbin.net. I also occasionally publish articles and devotions at various places online.

I Did Not Laugh

It’s really easy from the standpoint of a reader to judge the characters. If you read quite a bit of fiction or even find yourself engrossed in an exciting television series like Heroes or CSI, you might find yourself judging from afar. Why did the character do that?

Praying for Healing

One of the topics that came up in the book The Power of Praying Together was “one of the prayers you will be asked to pray most often for other people will be for healing.” If you are familiar with Stormie Ormatian’s Power of Praying books you know she often uses scriptures to form prayers. From reading her books it has been truly refreshing to see how God’s Word and prayer truly work together.

Eve the First Woman

So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man

While this particular study has a number four attached to it, this series is not about following steps. Today’s  study could easily be the first thing an individual has to tackle before getting their life back on track God’s way.

How to Adjust your Priorities Part II

I hope you have reached the point where you have decided it’s time for a serious change.  A change in priorities.  The most logical way to start anew is to revisit the two basic ways to achieve spiritual growth. You can probably name them easier than you actually spend time doing them consistently.  Read More...

How to Adjust your Priorities

A few weeks ago, I talked about setting priorities, using the story of Martha and Mary. In this familiar story, Jesus scolded Martha for not making him a priority. Now mind you, at first glance, it might seem Martha’s preparations for her special guest made it appear Jesus was a priority. This assumption goes downhill when her obsession with her workload causes her frustration. Jesus is the one who requests all come to him who are weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28),  Read More...

Walking in Mary Shoes

few weeks ago now, I mentioned I would post my word for the year on my blog. It’s sixteen days into the new year and I need to publicly post the word, mainly because I keep hearing the word over and over again.  It’s been mentioned in sermons and by people in conversation enough for me to start thinking, “God, I believe you are telling me something and I need to really listen.”  He’s been saying the same thing for a long time. What’s my problem? Read More...

Summer Explodes Tempers Flare!

I know most of us have heard the expression, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” During the summer months, I tend to purposely stay out of the kitchen, only using the oven if I must. Read More...

In ______ We Trust

One of the most practical areas of the bible is the book of Proverbs. Most of Proverbs was recorded by King Solomon, known to be the wisest man of all time (1 King 3:12). Like his father King David, Solomon was a good king. Unfortunately, Solomon didn’t remain as faithful to God as his father. Even though he was the wisest man in the world, Solomon inherited a flaw from his dad, a deep love for beautiful women. Solomon went above and beyond by marrying 700 foreign women and keeping 300 concubines in his lavish palace.

All About Us (or is it?)

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1-2 NIV

There was a time I thought I was Ms. Goody-Two Shoes. You know my good outweighs my bad, so I’m okay. Not like other folks. This same condescending attitude kept me from accepting God in my life for years.
