Day 24 - Trusting in the Name of the Lord

Trusting in the Name of the Lord

Psalm 20:7

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses;

But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.“ NKJV

Some bible scholars believe this psalm may have been referring to King David's battles with the Syrians according to 2 Samuel Ch. 8 and 2 Samuel Ch.10.  In 2 Samuel 10:18, it says the Syrians fled before Israel and King David and his men killed 700 charioteers and 40,000 horsemen.

Psalm 33:16-21

No king is saved by the multitude of an army;

A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

A horse is a vain hope for safety;

Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,

On those who hope in His mercy,

To deliver their soul from death,

And to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits for the Lord;

He is our help and our shield.

For our heart shall rejoice in Him,

Because we have trusted in His holy name. NKJV

King David experienced first hand that it doesn’t matter how large or great your enemy may seem to be; God brings victory to those who put their confidence and trust in His holy name.

 “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the Lord. Proverbs 21:31 NKJV
