Day 10 - The Seed of Promise & Blessing

The Seed of Promise &Blessing

Genesis 22:17-19

“Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." NKJV

God gives Abraham a wonderful and powerful promise of blessing  upon him and all his descendents namely those of his seed.  The Lord God tells him that in his seed they will multiply and bless the nations of the earth. NKJV

I love how God tells Abraham he will not only be blessed but through his seed he and his offspring will bless the nations.  It’s hard to imagine how one man could produce offspring as numerous as the stars in the heavens, especially a number so great that they would impact nations – not a country, not a continent but nations.

What Abraham may not have known how at the time but fully believed by faith God would provide was that God in His infinite and all surpassing knowledge was going to send his own son to be born of a virgin named Mary, married to Joseph Whose family line and seed came directly from Abraham and the house of King David.  Jesus is the seed from Abraham and fulfillment of that promise.

Romans 1:3-6 “concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;”

This also means we who believe in Christ now carry in us His seed through Christ and through His Holy Spirit thereby inheriting with His seed the same promise of blessing given to Abraham and all his descendents.

Galatians 3:16-17 “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed,"* who is Christ.

Galatians 3:29 “And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

We being Abraham’s seed are his spiritual heirs through Christ and that makes us also whether Jew or Gentile a fulfillment of this prophecy along with those who have gone before us and those who will come after us.  We are now called blessed and also called to be a blessing to the nations.

Do you see yourself as the offspring of Abraham, blessed and a blessing? If you do amen, if you have a hard time viewing yourself in that way ask God to help you with your unbelief and to help you see yourself the way God sees you.

Regardless of how you may think or feel you are blessed and through the indwelling life of Christ in you we are blessed and called to bless others where ever we go.  I hope you will believe it and receive it today that God is with you, He lives in your heart and empowers you and I to be that blessing to others because we have been so blessed through Christ.

Ephesians 1:3-4, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”

Acts 3:25 “You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'*
